Caim and Angelus' death scene was originally going to be brief, however Yasui ordered the team to remake it into what is in the final cut of the game. An audio recording of Caim's last words was also omitted from the final cut.

In the Japanese version of the game, the song "Alone" plays during Spoiler:Caim and Angelus' death cinematic and the final boss against Legna. The English version the song was replaced with "Growing Wings", likely due to copyright reasons.

There are four weapons that can only be unlocked by hacking the game; Poisontongue, Widow's Death, Writheheart, and Sealaxe: Calamitous Rhythm. However, the Sealaxe (which is a weapon class that can only be used by Urick) was usable as a longsword (a weapon style unique to Nowe).

Creative Director, Akira Yasui, decided to make Drakengard 2 far more colorful than the first game, wanting to do something that was the "opposite" of Drakengard. As a result, the game contained less mature themes. In a 2013 interview, Takamasa Shiba said that the reason for this was that ##Square Enix### wanted to make a more mainstream game.
