Fire Emblem: Awakening
1
Awakening was intended to be the final game in the series unless the total sales exceeded 250,000 copies, and so the game was filled with homages and features of previous installments. This includes the return of the marriage and inheritance system from Genealogy of the Holy War, the branching promotion trees and free-roam world map of The Sacred Stones, the skill system from various games in the series, and the custom character from Shin Monshō no Nazo ~Hikari to Kage no Eiyū~. It also included references to previous installments, such as with Owain shouting out the titles of the previous games, the brands possibly referencing the Holy Blood system in Genealogy of the Holy War, and downloadable characters and maps from previous games.

Attachment Through the use of a Gameshark code, it's possible to enable a feature that ultimately went unused in the final game. After a player's turn ends, their HUD will turn yellow, and a big "NO GAME" sign will appear before moving on to the next turn, instead of playing a mini-game. If it's the last turn, a big "GAME OVER" sign will appear, and the board ending will play as normal.

Attachment A mole named Mr. Resetti will pop up to scold the player if they reset the game without saving. On the sixth and random subsequent times, he will force the player to copy what he says by typing it in, and will not leave until they do so correctly. "no", "NO!", "jerk", "Die!", "Loser", "RESET", "freak", "Creep", "no way", "Leave!" "No Way!", "shut up", "go away", "Pinhead", "Dirtbag", "Scumbag", "Shut Up!", Go Away!", "Butthead", "Bite me!", "U R UGLY", "groundhog", "You stink", "I + Reset", "You suck!", "I hate you", "Moles suck", "Who Cares?".

Originally, the game was meant to have an all-star cast of Nintendo characters, plus characters from other games. Hideki Kamiya came up with the gameplay as a way to satisfy fans of all the different characters, as different gamers would prefer certain characters over others. As such, he decided to make all the characters appear at once, so that the fans could pick and chose which character to use. After the game was shelved for some time, it was decided to drop the all-star Nintendo cast to create an all new superhero cast.

Attachment Dean Hall has stated that the reason for the abundance of Rotten Kiwis throughout the game is because the team's designers "think it's hilarious to pick on [him]". It's likely that Rotten Kiwis refer to Dean's nationality as a New Zealander, colloquially known as Kiwis.
Banjo-Tooie
1
Washer Banjo, the transformation available in the Grunty Industries world, is a reference to the the first game in the series, where Mumbo might accidentally turn Banjo and Kazooie into a washing machine when casting a transformation spell on them.
Final Fantasy VI

It was originally intended for Gogo to be found in any of the bars in the World of Ruin disguised as one of the player characters not in the player's active party. Gogo would randomly cycle between the towns based on a timer and if the player managed to speak to him/her with the real character s/he was disguised as, Gogo would reveal him/herself and join the party.

The developers felt the quest was too difficult and changed this for the final version of the game. This could possibly suggest that the Siegfried/Ziegfried imposter was meant to be Gogo during development.
Left 4 Dead

Attachment In chapter 2 of "The Passing" Campaign, there is graffiti on the wall referencing Dead Rising's Frank West. It reads: "Otis, out of film. No helicopters. Zombies too fast. Not going to make it.-Frank West"

Attachment The Two Cities update introduced two new maps for Mann vs. Machine: Rottenburg and Mannhattan.

Mannhattan introduced a new kind of robot called "GateBots" that attempt to gain control of spawning gates on the map instead of carrying the bomb. These robots can be identified by the yellow GateBot lights they wear. Due to a bug, it was temporarily possible for players to craft GateBot lights.

Valve replaced the crafted GateBot Lights with an item called "Glitched Circuit Board". According to the item's description, the lights self-destructed after falling into human hands.

The Ancient Tongue spoken by the game's Laguz characters is actually just an elaborate English font which can easily be translated. Two of the game's characters, the heron Leanne and the wolf Volug, speak almost exclusively in the Ancient Tongue. They appear to be quiet, stoic, and wise characters. However, translating her dialogue reveals Leanne is quite excitable and sassy. Volug is similarly sarcastic; he asks at one point, "You ever wonder what would happen if I just ate everyone we fought? Would the rest keep fighting?"
Super Smash Bros. Melee

Attachment When on the stage, "Battlefield", in Classic, Adventure, and All-Star Modes, or in Event Matches "Space Travelers" and "Mewtwo Strikes!", it has a circular swirling rainbow design in the background. This background does not appear when the stage is selected normally in Versus Mode, and is otherwise unavailable.
