Platform: Game Boy Color

The title screen music for the originally unreleased 1996 Virtual Boy game Zero Racers was rearranged and reused for a promotional tech demo cartridge for the launch of the Game Boy Color, appearing at in-store kiosks in 1998.

In 2018, rapper Soulja Boy attempted to sell his own line of video game consoles, called the SouljaGame line, sold for $149.99 for a console and $99.99 for a handheld. Advertising claimed that the consoles would be compatible with a variety of consoles' games, including modern platforms like the PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch. They obviously did not have such compatibility, and were rather a generic retro emulator console one could find on small business-oriented retail websites such as Wish and AliExpress loaded with pirated and modified games sold at a markup. Game libraries featured included the Neo Geo, NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, and PlayStation. The only difference from these pre-existing consoles is a photograph of Soulja Boy printed onto the box. He would eventually stop selling SouljaGame consoles, with the website for the console redirecting to Nintendo's 3DS website.

There was a "Limited Edition Green and Gold Neotones" version of the Game Boy Color, which was released exclusively in Australia. The front of the handheld has pictured the Australian flag with text underneath it reading, "Ozzie! Ozzie! Ozzie!"

Many Game Boy Color games released close to and after the release of the Game Boy Advance offered special Game Boy Advance features, usually a different color palette designed for the Game Boy Advance screen. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, for example, included a special shop that could only be accessed when the game was played on a Game Boy Advance.

On the Game Boy Color logo, each color in the word "Color" represents one of the colors the system was originally manufactured in.

If an original Game Boy game is inserted, it's possible to change the color of the game at the start up screen. This is also the case with the Game Boy Advance.
