Attachment There are secrets that can be triggered by pressing the Start button rapidly on the Beginner, Advanced, and Expert courses:

•On the Beginner Course, stopping at the Finish line and pressing Start rapidly will cause the bulletin to flash various hidden messages. Despite being approved for all audiences, one message states "Go to Hell".
•On the Advanced Course, during at least the third lap, when you reach the giant red skeleton spider, rapidly pressing Start will cause a spaceship attacking the spider to fire lasers at it. This is the only one of the three secrets that can be triggered in the MIX version of the course.
•On the Expert Course, near the Start line, there is a set of five industrial fans that will spin faster the more you press the Start button. If you hold the Start button for the entire first lap, on the second lap when you return to the fans, they will be spinning so fast that they will actually fly off of their hinges and out of the course.

The NPC 'Jakben, Earl of Imbel' found in the Imperial City is actually an anagram of "Jack be nimble", from an old mid-19th century English nursery rhyme about a boy named Jack who would jump over candle sticks. He also owns a pair of unique boots important to the Thieves Guild questline which boosts the wearer's acrobatics skill by 50 points, allowing them to jump much higher than before. The name of the item, the "Boots of Springheel Jak", is itself a reference to a character from English folklore.

The game plays out depending on what missions (Hero, Neutral, Dark) are completed per level. In total, despite the game having 10 endings, there are 326 possible “endings” each with their own sequence of levels, cutscenes and unique library entry for each "ark".

This decision made the game notoriously difficult and tedious to 100%. The current segmented world record for a 100% speedrun is over 181 hours long as of September 2021.

Attachment The battle with Psycho Mantis includes a pre-fight "demonstration" of Mantis' psychic abilities, in which Mantis will read the player's memory card. If the player has save data from one of several Konami PlayStation games on their memory card, Mantis will reference that game by name. The games that trigger this dialogue are Suikoden, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Vandal Hearts and Azure Dreams.

In the Japanese release, both Policenauts and Snatcher are also recognized. Having save data from both of these games will trigger a message from Hideo Kojima, thanking the player for their continued support, but since both of those games were only released in Japan, this message cannot be heard normally in international versions of the game.
