The developers would see each other's work and become jealous over the progress that they'd seen.

Attachment The weapon Shuraba was intended to have an animation where the sword's pulsing heart would show on the hilt of the sword when the weapon was fully charged. During development, the developers forgot to put the animation on the weapon, so the animation does not appear in the game, but the code still exists.
Mortal Kombat 3

A large number of unused items in the game's code suggests that the ninja characters were originally planned to appear in the game. These include an animality animation for Ermac, a friendship animation for Classic Sub-Zero, unused win text for Scorpion, and a debug menu with references to Sub-Zero and Smoke.

The game fails to save any data once turned off, even though a save feature was coded into the game. According to Stewart Gilray, director of development at the time of the game's release, hardware issues stopped this feature from working.

"We created the game to allow saves etc, but for some reason, I'm guessing budgetary, Ubisoft at the last minute decided to NOT manufacture the game with EEPROM save memory."

Stewart Gilray also went on to state that saving the game does work when using a flash cart or playing the game through emulation, and that he would "encourage people that play it to play it on a backup cart just so to allow saving."

Attachment In the DOS version of the game, there are hidden credits in the Dam level to two people named Dean and Mike, accessed only by using cheats. These people are Mike Smith and Dean Grifiths, graphics artists who worked on the DOS port.

The game was based on the 1967 science-fiction short story of the same name. Harlan Ellison, the short story's author, also worked on this game. Despite not being a fan of computer games and not owning a personal computer at the time, he co-authored the expanded storyline and wrote much of the game's dialogue, all on a mechanical typewriter, provided artwork of himself used for a mousepad within the game, and voiced "AM" the supercomputer.

Attachment Dante's name comes from Dante Alighieri, who was a great Florentine poet of the Middle Ages. His central work, Divine Comedy, is often referenced or used as a background throughout the Devil May Cry series. While his brother's name comes from Publius Vergilius Maro, who was a classical Roman poet. Dante Alighieri made Virgil his guide through Hell and Purgatory in his Divine Comedy.

An enemy which had been scrapped from the final game was an infected elephant which had tendrils of fungus extending from its legs and blooming mushrooms on its head. An encounter with the creature would have Joel, the game's protagonist, scrambling away from it.

Originally, Conner was going to have a Chain Blade, which, according to concept art, was going to act as a long-ranged hidden blade. The weapon was not used as the teams "felt it to be heading down too much of a fantasy route." The chain blade was replaced with the real life Sheng Biao/Rope Dart.
