According to the game's manual, the zombie that the second player controls in the game's multiplayer mode is named Grubbs. His backstory is that he is "a fellow traveling salesman who, through a series of unfortunate coincidences, ended up in the same unmarked grave as Stubbs with a similar suit and fatal stomach injury. Life sure is funny that way."

One of the antagonists in the game is named Police Chief T.S. Masters, who is commonly referred to as Chief Masters. This is thought to be a not so subtle reference to Master Chief, the main protagonist of the Halo series, as much of Wideload Games' founding staff were former Bungie developers, and the game was developed in the Halo series' Blam! Engine.
