Originally, a scene in which Wally can be seen floating on a raft, and once again losing his monocle, was cut from the game. This was because the development team felt sorry for Wally's character.

Largo LaGrande was named after La Grande, Oregon, the town that Ron Gilbert, the game's creator, grew up in.

Monkey Island 2 was the first game released under the LucasArts brand. Previous games by the studio were released under LucasFilm Games.

Likewise, this marks the first appearance of the iconic "Gold Guy" logo.

The word "Revenge" in the game's title is a reference to an early name for Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. At one point, the movie was called Revenge of the Jedi.
