Details about the Finding Dory playset were accidentally leaked on the back of a packet of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner before an official announcement was made.

The Music Island set was based on an unused island concept for the movie Inside Out. A Boyfriend Island was also intended to be a set but was scraped when the developers found it "hard to make a game out of boyfriends."

Boba Fett's design in the game appears to be based on the blue Boba Fett action figure by Kenner, released in 1979 as a send away promotion. This is possibly to keep in-line with the toy theme of the game.
