During the first Venom section of Ultimate Spider-Man, to demonstrate the "feeding" mechanic, Venom absorbs a small boy in a yellow shirt holding a Spider-Man balloon, then ejects him out of his body. This boy is a reference to a recurring mission from the 2004 Spider-Man 2 game, where an event will randomly trigger in the hub world where the exact same boy loses a balloon flying into the sky and cries for someone (Spider-Man) to retrieve it. Players complained about this mission for how difficult it was to catch the balloon's thin string without popping it, the shrill voice acting from the boy, and the few Hero Points the mission awarded each time.

If the player goes to the location in the attached image, they'll find a building called the 'Sanctum Sanctorum' that belongs to one of Marvel's other super heroes, Doctor Strange.
