The Road Complex AA1 armor was altered in patches 1.0.1.2 and 1.0.1.3 to change their design. This was done as a result of the gauntlets' resemblance to the "Kek" meme which originated in StarCraft and World of Warcraft but has since taken a different meaning, often being associated with white nationalist movements.

The original intention was in reference to the meme's use in games, and the change came about as Bungie doesn't feel its inclusion given its more contemporary context to be appropriate for the game.

The South Korean exclusive version of the game is called Destiny: Guardians. All content in this version is the same as the international versions, with the exception of the microtransaction vendor, Tess Everis, being replaced by Yuna, an original character created exclusively for this version that offers different items.

Due to the 2024-2025 SAG-AFTRA video game strike, some of the voiceover content from Destiny 2's "Episode: Heresy" expansion was stated by Bungie to be missing at its initial release. To compensate for this, subtitles were enabled by default for the expansion's release, and activities that had missing voice acting provided a warning before being launched.
