The game was originally planned to have optional Expansion Pak support that would have increased the resolution and added more background details, but using this feature in early builds of the game caused graphical glitches, forcing the team to work around the limitation. According to director Chris Seavor, instead of upping the resolution, they chose to simply stretch the image to save on extra memory. The game would later launch on a 64 megabyte cartridge, one of the largest on the Nintendo 64, allowing them to include more detailed visuals and voice lines. When asked why Conker didn't need the Expansion Pak when games like Donkey Kong 64 and Perfect Dark did, Seavor joked that the Conker team simply optimized the game better.
