NHL 2004

Attachment During NHL 2004's development and release, EA had to make two different cover athlete changes. Boston Bruin's captain Joe Thornton was the original planned cover athlete until Thornton was brought up on assault charges. EA replaced Thornton with Atlanta Thrashers player Dany Heatley when the game was first shipped out. However, Heatley was later involved in a car crash that killed his teammate Dan Snyder. After this, EA once again changed the cover athlete to Colorado Avalanche captain Joe Sakic. Existing copies of the game remained on store shelves, though further productions and advertising for the game were switched to Sakic.

WWF No Mercy

WWF No Mercy was notorious for a massive memory glitch that would delete all of the player's save data at any time. A fixed version was released almost a year later. The new version also had blood removed, although animations and "first blood" matches remained in the game.
Back to the Future: The Game

While the game was being developed, Dennis Lenart wanted to include actors from the original films to reprise their characters, but some of them were unavailable at the time. Later in 2015, Tom Wilson, who played Biff Tannen, replaced Andrew Chaikin to reprise his character's voice in the "30th Anniversary Edition".
This version was released on October 2015, to celebrate the same month and year that Marty McFly and Doc Brown went to the future (October 21 2015) in Back to the Future Part II.
Tenchi wo Kurau II: Shokatsu Koumei-den

Attachment Based on the popular manga from the 80s, Tenchi wo Kurau, which is set in 3rd century China; the game was originally titled Tenchi wo Kurau II.
Much like the first game of the series, Destiny of an Emperor, when the game was localized in the U.S. the box art depicted a 16th century Japanese samurai warrior on it, instead of a 3rd century Chinese warrior.

Attachment The first Nobunaga's Ambition game was actually the second in the series, originally titled "Nobunaga no Yabou: Zenkokuban".
Though it was the second game in the series, it was the first ported to the U.S. and so it was simply titled Nobunaga's Ambition in the West.

Hayate was removed from the arcade roster of EX2 Plus for unknown reasons, making a previously unlockable character, Nanase, a normal character in his stead. Hayate was added back in the home port of the game, but as a secret character.
Franchise: Resident Evil

The title voices for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X for the Gamecube were changed to match the title voices of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero, both of which were released on the Gamecube before them.

In the Taiwan and Hong Kong websites of the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS websites, one of the photos is actually taken from the Wii U version. The Wii U version was not released in Taiwan or Hong Kong yet, and was likely just an oversight of the developers.
Bonk's Revenge

Attachment The sprite of Bonk seen in the Japanese version differs from the American version. Bonk looks cuter and happier in the Japanese version while he looks bulkier and serious in the American version. In addition to that, the Japanese version includes karaoke during the credits so people could sing along with the lyrics. This is absent in the American version.
Splatoon

Attachment The Salt Spray Rig map was redesigned between it's reveal at Nintendo's Digital Event at E3 2014 and the game's retail release. The spawn location is lowered, and the area at the far top of the map is a lot bigger than in the final game. A number of other minor changes were also made.
Ratchet & Clank

In the HD version of the game on the PS3, there is a trophy named "These are not the droids you're looking for..." This references a line from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
Bully

The game's re-release in 2008, Bully: Scholarship Edition, contained new content that wasn't in the original version of the game. This included new classes (biology, music, math and geography), new unlockable items, new two-player mini-games and new awards.
X-Men: Children of the Atom

Attachment In the early arcade release revision, revision 941208, after defeating Magneto, Anne-Marie Cortez is shown among the characters that enter the stage with a position and pose that makes it look as though she is holding Magneto's crotch. This was removed in later revisions and console releases of the game.
