According to a report made by BBC's Watchdog, 0.5% of the PS3 60GB launch released would suffer from the infamous "Yellow Light of Death" (YLOD) approximately two years after its purchase, and since the PS3 warranty was about one year, Sony would offer a refurbished console in return of the faulty one, for £145 up until August 2009.

Sony responded to the report by saying that they "have serious concerns as to the accuracy of these allegations and the likely tone of the Watchdog report" and that they "think it is highly unfair to suggest that from an installed base of 2.5 million that the numbers you mention somehow are evidence of a 'manufacturing defect'".

A study in America found that playing Super Mario Sunshine made people more helpful in real life.

They assigned some students to play a video game that the researchers deemed prosocial-either Super Mario Sunshine (pictured above), in which Mario must clean up environmental pollution, or Chibi Robo, where players assume the role of a robot who helps a family manage their house...

...After playing the game, the students were paired with another person and told to make their partner complete 11 puzzles from a selection of 30 - 10 of which were hard, 10 easy, and 10 in between. They were informed that if their partner was to solve 10 of the puzzles correctly, then the partner would receive a $10 gift certificate. The researchers deemed a person's behavior as "helpful" if the participant gave his or her partner an easy puzzle, "hurtful" if the puzzle was hard, and "neutral" for medium puzzles.

Their findings were quite dramatic: Those who played the prosocial games were significantly more likely to be helpful, while those who played the violent games were more likely to be hurtful.

The Metal Gear Solid main theme used in the first MGS, Sons of Liberty, The Twin Snakes and partially in Snake Eater was removed from Portable Ops shortly before its release because of a potential plagiarism.

Someone on the Internet found a song called "The Winter Road" by the Russian composer Georgy Sviridov which strongly resembled the theme composed by TAPPY.

When Hideo Kojima heard it and became aware of the similarities between the two tracks, he decided to not use the theme again in any future titles in order to evade legal issues.
