There are several unused voice clips that suggest that there were going to be more characters in Dragon Universe than there actually are. Notably, Kid Goku's Dragon Universe seemed to have involved him finding a time machine that takes him to the current Dragon Ball Z era, fighting Yamcha, Krillin, Tien Shinhan, Piccolo (who he thinks is still King Piccolo), maybe Vegeta, Teen Gohan (who thinks he stole the name from his grandfather) and Broly.

In "Dragon History", the game's story mode, during the fight with Nam, Mr. Satan/Hercule is shown on the signs and blimps even though he is not the champion at that point in the story. Pokémon Trainer is the only character that has a custom name in their original series to not be given a default name in Brawl, and is instead given a generic name. It is clear from the character design that the suitable default name would be "Red" as he is named as such in Pokémon Gold and Silver, and again in the remakes which were released after Brawl. The reason this was done is unknown.

Most stages/bosses in the game actually have two slightly different themes. When a playable character enters Trance Mode, the music will shift to a "Spirit World" version. The normal stage themes have more of a focus on the melody and harmony of each track, while the Spirit versions have a lower sampling rate and focus much more on the rhythm. The two versions can also be mixed for a more "full" version.

It is possible that Toyosatomimi no Miko's theme lacks a Spirit World version. It is thought that this ties into Miko's ability to listen to peoples' desires, regardless of whether they are a spirit or not.

A minigame ensues in which the player must run a correct number of laps to receive a Dreamer's Sarong.
