Like the first Battle Network, this game also has very different title screens between the Japanese and international versions. Likewise, the Capcom USA copyright was removed in the European edition as it was published by Ubisoft.
Interestingly, unlike the rest of the series the ROM used for the European Wii U eShop is the US edition, so the Capcom USA copyright is present on that version.

This game is the first in the series to feature Mr. Famous, who would go on to be a recurring side character in the rest of the main series titles and Battle Chip Challenge. He is the operator of the Navis that were selected from the contests held in Japan (excluding Battle Network 3 where he operates Punk, and Battle Network 6 where he does not have a Navi).

This is the only Battle Network game that still has cursing in its localized translations. This includes words like damn, hell, and crap. There is also a scene early on in the game where Yai shamelessly remarks about Lan seeing her naked. Interestingly, the ESRB still gave the game an "E for everyone" rating, and they didn't even give it a "Mild Language" descriptor; it just has "Comic Mischief".
