During development of the game, professional wrestler CM Punk demanded WWE pay him royalties for using his likeness and name in game. Since the game started development before CM Punk's breach of contract and departure from WWE, he was still included within the game's playable roster.

Users who upload the face of Chris Benoit to the Community Creations are banned from the game. Chris Benoit was a wrestler who was signed by WWE prior to an incident in which he murdered his wife and son before committing suicide in 2007. Since then, WWE has tried to remove all records and affiliation with him wherever possible.
