
Several temporary music files used during the game's development that were later replaced and left in the encrypted data for the final game include songs from the soundtrack to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, as well as several licensed songs from the soundtrack to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hans Zimmer's score for the film "Inception", and Daft Punk's soundtrack to the film "Tron: Legacy".

In the "Revelations" DLC, the diary of a soldier's corpse can be found. The name of the soldier is "Angry Sir Rolfe", who is named after James Rolfe, known as "The Angry Video Game Nerd". The diary contains reference to Rolfe's first video game review of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.
The character Victor Belmont was originally planned to appear in the cancelled Dreamcast game "Castlevania: Resurrection". Lords of Shadow 2 is the first Castlevania game to be released that Victor appears in.
