There's an unused sprite in the game's data of what appears to be Mario, though the sprite's palette is more in line with that of his original outfit of red dungarees with a blue shirt.

There are 5 hidden "Sega!" voices in the Japanese version of the game, featuring an alternative Antowas voice, Astal, Geist, Gerardo and Leda.

Due to a printing error, Astal is the only Sega Saturn game released in the United States to not display the game's logo on its spine, which may have led to its poor sales in that region. Retailers would have had to display the case facing forward, rather than its side as standard.

• In issue #50 he is seen in a fight between the Overlanders versus the Mobians, alongside his bird.
• On the cover of issue #51 he is seen in the crowd looking up at the main cast.
• On the cover of issue #125 he is seen holding the "5" card.
