Some of the 3D racing games developed and released by Sega in the mid-1990s included the unlockable option to race as certain animals:

• In the Sega Saturn port of Daytona USA, earning first place in every track will unlock a brown horse and a grey horse, which have Automatic and Manual transmissions respectively. The horses can also be unlocked immediately on the title screen by holding Up-Left, A, B, X and Z, and pressing Start.
• On the transmission select screen in all versions of Manx TT Super Bike, entering Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, the Brake button, and the Accelerate button will replace all the motorcycles in a race with sheep (this is accomplished using the gear shift and leaning the motorcycle in the arcade version). A sheep's baa will be heard if the code was entered correctly.
• In SCUD Race Plus, holding Start while selecting the Dodge Viper GTS in Super Beginner Mode will instead put the player in control of a cat.

Due to its poor reception and short lifespan, over 60 Sega 32X games are known to have been cancelled. As the 32X only received 40 official releases worldwide, this makes it unusual in that it had more cancellations than actual game releases. Many of the cancelled 32X games would eventually be ported to other platforms to commercial and/or critical success, including Daytona USA, Die Hard Trilogy, and Rayman.

On the Advanced Circuit, turning around and driving up the slope to the right of the track leads to an enclosed area with a sign reading "Congratulations. You just lost your sponsors!".

Entering certain initials at the Name Entry screen will trigger jingles from other Sega games.
