Lillipa is named after the Kingdom of Lilliput, and the lillipans are based on the lilliputians, from Gulliver's Travels.

Vopar is possibly named after the Vorpal Sword from the poem "Jabberwocky" in Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There", but given the abundance of water on the planet it could also be named after the aquatic demon Vepar.

Oracle seems be a Japanese phonetic anagram of Algol, similar to Ragol from Phantasy Star Online, but substituting a C in place of a G.

In June 2016, an update was added to Postal 2, 13 years after release, this update added a way to enter the closed video game store which stated it would reopen in June of 2016, inside the player can find a VR headset similar to the HTC Vive. Putting the headset on will bring the player to a virtual reality store named "Steme", which sells copies of Postal Redux, and parody versions of popular steam games. (including Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Doom) The cashier will also give the player tips from the future, like betting on the Red Sox and not buying Postal 3. A Sports Almanac can also be seen outside the store, as a reference to Back To The Future.

The game contains multiple references to previous games in the series. Most notably when Claire tells Moira a gun is "more reliable than any person" (quoting Steve from Code: Veronica), Barry saying he is the master of unlocking (referencing a scene from the original game) and Claire saying she was almost "a Claire sandwich" (referencing Barry from the first game). Also worth noting is that just like in her previous appearance, Claire wakes up abducted on a prison island overrun by zombies and other creatures.

The baby murloc dance is a reference to the chuck Jones character, Michigan J. Frog, most well known for using a top hat and cane while singing and dancing in the style of a vaudeville performer.

The game contains an ending error message where Sans will say;
"i'll be honest.i have no idea what happened for you to get here. this is actually some sort of error- handling message. so, if you're getting this ending...tell whoever made the game, okay? they'll fix it, or if it's a novel situation... they might even add another ending to the game. chances are, though... you're just a dirty hacker, aren't you? yeah, get outta here."

This works as an error handler when none of the available endings are triggered, which shouldn't happen during regular gameplay.
