His idea for a lawyer based game was frowned upon by the higher-ups, but tried to convince them that the game would be interesting with its "eccentric" characters.

Attachment The game is loosely based on the film "Phenomena" (released as "Creepers" in the US). Many of the details that happen in the movie are copied in the game, such as the main character being named Jennifer and being chased by the deformed son of the villain.

Attachment GLaDOS had a few different designs before the final one seen in the game. Earlier designs included a floating brain, a sprawling, spidery mechanism, and an upside-down version of Botticelli's painting "The Birth of Venus" made out of robot parts. The final version was a huge mechanical device with a delicate robotic figure, which shows off her raw power and femininity.

According to the Masayuki Uemura, one of Nintendo's hardware designers who oversaw the design of the Famicom, the reason the console was named the "Family Computer" was because during the '80s, words like "personal computer" and "home computer" became widespread in Japan, and the word 'Family' hadn't been used yet. Uemura also wanted to call it "Famicom" for short, after having it suggested to him by his wife, but the idea was rejected by Nintendo's then boss, believing "Family Computer" to be easier to understand, although the moniker was still colloquially used by many.

Officially, the protagonist's name in this game is "Claude". Hacking into the game's files, one can find a text string saying "DEFNAME = CLAUDE" which not only made it clear his name was Claude, but also hinted at a removed mechanic allowing the player to rename the main character. As a result, many also believe he is Claude Speed, the protagonist of GTA2.

Sam Houser claimed that the GTA3 protagonist did not have a name as he was merely the player's avatar, but would later be named "Claude" as of San Andreas, as everyone had taken to calling him that.
