In the Japanese release, after fighting the undead pirates during the first visit on The Interceptor in Port Royal, there's a cutscene in which Will Turner positions a pistol up to his head, as he does in the film "Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl". This scene was changed in the international release to have Will point his gun to the ground instead.

Some of the trainer sprites in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald were changed for the international versions. Hex Maniacs were given smaller eyes with pupils, and the female Psychics have their arms outstretched, and the Male Cooltrainer has minor changes to his hairstyle.
The most obvious change is the sailor, whose original pose resembles a gesture called the "Bras d'honneur", involving raising a fist and slapping the biceps on the same arm (also known as the "Iberian slap" or "Iberian finger"), which is seen as an offensive gesture in a number of countries.

During the game's public alpha test, a player managed to gain access to a restricted area and was killed in an unfinished boss encounter with Father Gascoigne. When dying, the boss mutters the words "Umbasa", a common word used by NPCs in Demon's Souls, Bloodborne's spiritual predecessor. This may suggest that Bloodborne is set in the same universe as the Demon's Souls series or simply a reference to the series by the developers. This line of dialogue was removed from the final release.
