A recurring oddity of games on the Game Boy Advance was that many games were released with brighter graphics than games on other platforms. This was likely a consequence of the original Game Boy Advance model not having built-in lighting, a controversial omission that would not be corrected until the Game Boy Advance SP, thus incentivizing developers to design games with brighter colors. Some games with intentionally dark graphics, such as Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, were actually criticized at the time for being too hard to see on the original console.
