In an Iwata Asks interview about Star Fox 64 3D, scriptwriter Mitsuhiro Takano revealed the team originally planned more underwater stages featuring the Blue Marine, but cut them for pacing reasons. In the Japanese version of the Aquas stage, Falco remarks:

" こんな物 後にも先にも１回きりだぜ! " (This is like the only time in our life we'll ever use this thing!)
