While the game's North American manual uses a traditional booklet, the Japanese and PAL region manuals were instead produced as a papercraft template that can be cut out and folded into a box. The manual pages are on the outside, with the inside containing artwork by Rodney Greenblat of PJ peeking inside PaRappa's noisy bedroom as he struggles to fall asleep. Along the borders of the bedroom art on the template is a different collage of sketches by Greenblat, featuring a large "P2" in the top-left corner. Just below it is a sketch of Lammy crossing her arms in contempt and shouting "P3!" This is a reference to PaRappa the Rapper 2 actually being the third game in the series after Um Jammer Lammy.
