The name of Straynap's ice cream shop, 13 Ice, is a reference to the real-life ice cream chain Baskin-Robbins, who are not only famous for their "31 flavors" slogan, but are also known as "31 Ice Cream" in Japan.

In order to incorporate a "feminine sensibility" into the game's design, its creative staff was composed primarily of women, who worked on the game's character designs, music, Paffet designs, and the appearance of the game's main setting Napple Town. The two most well known women to be involved in the game's development were composer Yoko Kanno, and vocalist and frequent collaborator Maaya Sakamoto.
