In the international Wii release, only Mario and Sonic can be seen skiing and snowboarding on the game's front cover. In the Japanese and Korean versions of the game, Amy, Knuckles, Luigi, and Peach can also be seen skiing and snowboarding.

When the game is played during December, Santa Claus will appear as a VIP Character, awarding 300 Star Tokens rather than 100 like the other VIP members.
