The voice of the Boy was provided by Justin and Kanin Koshak, the sons of lead programmer Robert Koshak. Although originally brought in to provide placeholder recordings, they were later considered perfect for the final product.

Within the Wii version’s files is the intro to the 1997 animated TV show “The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police.”

According to a Game Informer interview with the game's lead designer Sean Velasco, the dedicated hug button was the vestige of a larger emotion system planned for the game. This system was cut from the final game as managing the Blob's emotions ended up being too much of a hassle for players, but the hug button was deemed "just too heart melting" to omit.
