There was a police investigation in Spain called "Operación Pokémon" (Operation Pokemon). It got its name from the almost endless amount of politicians that had committed fraud, so the police took the motto "Gotta catch 'em all!" from the Pokemon series.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
1
In Metal Gear Solid 4, the all-female haven troops cannot be knocked unconscious by grabbing their crotch after a body search (as it turns into a grope). If Snake tries this, the soldier will start yelling "Pervert!", "You idiot!", "If you don't cut that out...", or "You men are all the same!" They will soon retaliate with an incapacitating kick. That said, there's a slight chance they will say, "Hey, you're pretty good at that."
Golden Sun
1
Attachment In the first Golden Sun game, you can get a "bad ending" near the beginning of the game. After the events that occur at Sol Sanctum, the Great Healer will ask you, "Will you accept responsibility for the fate of the land?" If you say no and leave the room, the screen will turn grey and display the text "And so the world began drifting toward its fated destruction..."
Franchise: Pokémon
1
Attachment Pokemon was originally called "Capsule Monsters" but was renamed as the creators had trouble trademarking the name. They also tried to trademark "Capumon" and then "Pocked Monsters". Capsule Monsters was put on hold so Game Freak could develop Yoshi for the NES and Game Boy. The success of Yoshi helped Game Freak acquire the resources they needed to continue work on Pokemon, and could even be the reason we have Pokemon today. The name "Capsule Monsters" is inspired by Japanese gashapon machines. It appears PokeMarts were supposed to sell the capsules, as indicated by this concept art.
Space Invaders
1
Even though Space Invaders used some of the latest hardware for the time, its creator, Tomohiro Nishikado, discovered that the processer wasn't powerful enough to run the game as intended (with the aliens moving at a constant speed), and instead rendered the alien graphics faster when fewer were on screen. Rather than design the game to compensate for the speed increase, he decided to keep it as a challenging gameplay mechanic.
Grand Theft Auto IV
1
Attachment The official artwork for Lola Del Rio (which was used to promote the game) shows her with six digits on one hand; five fingers and a thumb underneath.
Franchise: Donkey Kong
1
Shigeru Miyamoto has stated the name "Donkey Kong" came from him confusing the word "donkey" with the word "ass", thinking it meant something stupid. He assumed an American audience would think "Donkey Kong" meant "big stupid ape". Nintendo laughed when he suggested the name, but it ultimately stuck.
Super Mario World
1
Attachment The seemingly random symbol on the mail box of Yoshi's House is actually the logo for Japan's postal service.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
1

The majority of Kid Icarus was developed during three months of intense work, where developers would stay up all night, and sleep in the office. They created make-shift beds using cardboard boxes and curtains, and would endure hours of winter cold in the unheated building.

Attachment Inside the palace of former Libyan Dictator Muammar Gaddafi, there is a painting of the prince from Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. It's alleged that his son, Moatassem Billah Gaddafi, was a big fan of the series, and is the reason the painting lies within the palace.

Collection: ToeJam & Earl
1
Rumours circulated that ToeJam & Earl were originally named FlowJam and Whirl. The story goes that when designer Greg Johnson told programmer Mark Voorsanger their names, Mark misunderstood what Greg was saying and coded them in the game as Toejam and Earl. It wasn't until they showed the game to SEGA that Greg realized the named were incorrect, but since SEGA actually like the name, they decided to keep them.

This rumour was confirmed as being false by Greg Johnson, who frequently joked with games press, giving them intentionally incorrect information, and was reaffirmed by the official ToeJam & Earl Twitter account in 2020.

When Paras evolves into Parasect, it's actually being engulfed by the fungi growing on its back. It takes over the Pokemon's body and does all the thinking. This essentially leave the Pokemon zombified and lifeless, as illustrated by its lack of pupils.
