The game's soundtrack featured songs by the hip-hop group The Black Eyed Peas, who also appeared as themselves in the game. It was initially reported that nine songs on their then-upcoming album Monkey Business would be re-recorded with lyrics in the Simlish language; EA's president of music Steve Schnur claimed that the collaboration was the first time that a band would re-record material specifically for a video game. However, these plans were scrapped as the band postponed the album's release and instead chose to contribute seven original Simlish songs, only re-recording their older singles "Let's Get It Started" and "Shut Up" into Simlish. The game's special edition came with a pre-paid iTunes download card for an extended play, which notably included an exclusive song in English called "The Sticky".
