For the games' English localization in this collection, the localization team wanted to preserve the "period feel" of the games' dual settings in the translation, as the plots and theming relied upon the cultural contrast between Meiji era Japan and Victorian era Great Britain from the perspective of a migrating Japanese national. To do this, they conducted extensive background research to understand the historical context of the time period, with localization director Janet Hsu consulting several 19th century dictionaries they had collected during the development of The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve. As an extra consideration, Hsu requested to the programming staff that when examining evidence, textures containing Japanese text should not be altered, but rather receive subtitles when hovering over them.
