According to director John Gelardi, the game's title is a reference to the origins of the word "dinosaur", which is derived from the Greek words "deinos" (meaning terrible) and "sauros" (meaning lizard). WDR Studios felt this name was appropriate as it appeared to have never been used before for a dinosaur-centric horror game.
