Following the game's release in April 2026, many players pointed out that the game used various AI-generated assets without prior disclosure. The most prominent examples were an animated video seen in the Pink Paws Heist mission, and a billboard for the in-universe film "Clear Skies in Summer" which appeared to copy a still from the 2019 anime film "Weathering with You". As a result, two virtual YouTubers who had initially agreed to promote the game, Ironmouse and Shylily, each announced that they would no longer be doing so, with Ironmouse accusing the developers of lying to her when she inquired about whether or not generative AI was used in the game. Producer Yang Lei had previously disclosed that it was used during development the week prior to the game's release in a Chinese-language interview, claiming that "core assets and character portraits" would never be created with generative AI and that it would mainly be used for "atmospheric renderings". Hotta Studio later released a statement in May reiterating that it was used for "a small number of background and environmental assets, not on the characters or stories that define this game", and that they would be reviewing and reworking the material. The two aforementioned examples were removed from the game in a subsequent update, with the video being replaced with TV static, and the billboard being replaced by a soda advertisement that players believed was still AI-generated. A fishing minigame added in the version 1.3 update in August was later discovered to contain an AI-generated image of a seahorse, featuring a watermark for the free version of the ByteDance AI chatbot assistant Doubao which was since removed.
