There are several references to memes and other mobile games in the descriptions of some items found in the shop. For example, there is a head that can be purchased for 9,001 in-game coins called 'Powered Up hair', with the description saying "We are not really sure what the power level of this hair is. It's probably a lot." This, and the price of the hair, is a reference to the famous "It's over 9,000!" Dragon Ball Z meme.

In the PS3 and Vita ports of Jetpack Joyride, there is a trophy titled "For Science". As the trophy image resembles the Aperture Science logo, this is likely a reference to the Portal series.
