In a now-deleted development blog post, developer HuniePot revealed the origins of some of the girls' names, some of which were references to people he knew in real life:

• Tiffany was named after Tiffany Young (real name Stephanie Young Hwang) of the South Korean pop group Girls' Generation.
• Aiko was named after a friend of the girl he was dating at the time when the character was being drawn.
• Kyanna was named after "my friend's ex-girlfriend's smoking hot cousin".
• Audrey is loosely based on actress Aubrey Plaza, though he noted that the similarities were in name only.
• Lola was named Lola simply because "I just really like the name Lola".
• Nikki's name was in reference to several girls he had met who were all named Nikki, and were all "shy/nerdy/artsy girls", making the name fitting for the character.
• Jessie's name is a reference to Jessica, the earliest prototype girl designed for the game who would later evolve into the character Tiffany.
• Beli's name was chosen for being "the cutest name on a big list of common Indian names for girls."
• Kyu's name is derived from "Kupid", an alternate spelling of "Cupid".
