The NES version of the game uses a number of sound effects from The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants. Not only were the NES versions of both games developed by the same company, Imagineering Inc., but the source code for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York was built on top of Imagineering's source code for their licensed Simpsons games.

You're right, the NES versions of both games were developed by Imagineering. The Angry Video Game Nerd episode cited in this submission was wrongly claiming the publishers (Acclaim and THQ) were the developers. The sound comparison before that error happens is still accurate so I'll leave that as is, but I added another source that ties both games together, thank you for reporting this.

I thought they were both developed by Imagineering?
