The NES version of the game uses a number of sound effects from The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants. Not only were the NES versions of both games developed by the same company, Imagineering Inc., but the source code for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York was built on top of Imagineering's source code for their licensed Simpsons games.
