The splash screen at the end of the Tokyo Game Show 2018 demo depicts various forms of Jibanyan, including Kuroi Jibanyan and Rudy. However, these two do not appear in the final game.

During Anime Expo 2019, Level-5 showed a Japanese trailer for the game with English subtitles, suggesting that there were plans to localize the game. They noted that the game featured content that would require players to watch certain non-localized films (specifically the 2017 film "Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: Oni-ō no Fukkatsu" and the 2018 film "Yo-kai Watch: Forever Friends") to fully understand, though the company expressed interest in localizing these films as well. However, an English localization was never released. According to former Level-5 Abby employee Matt Matoba, no actual localization work had been done outside of a few emails, and he felt it was highly unlikely it would be localized in the future. Initial plans for the localization were pushed by internal staff members who deeply loved the series, but due to the severe failure of Yo-kai Watch 3 in the west, the failure of The Snack World: TreJarers, and a "generally declining game state", the release was cancelled shortly after it had been announced.
