In the NES version, there is an unused graphic featuring the letters "PIHL" being repeated.

In an issue of Nintendo Power previewing the game, a screenshot shows pictures of two unused items. These were a set of secret documents and a cloaking device that may have allowed the player to skip an important battle in the game. Both items were replaced by a bundle of Dilithium in the final game.

In the Masaba Temple is a puzzle that involves the player stepping on symbols in the correct order. Some of these symbols resemble the icons used by the band Led Zepellin.
