The Starship Titanic novel, which was to tie-in with the game's release, was written in less than three weeks of its deadline. The book was originally intended to be written by someone else, based on an outline written by Adams, however, Adams later decided to write it himself. Though due to Adams's poor punctuality, the book was instead written by former Monty Python member Terry Jones, who also provided voice work for the game, who claimed that he wrote the novel whilst in the nude.
