In the first Ratchet & Clank game, on the planet Kalebo III, Ratchet and Clank meet the Gadgetron CEO Wendell Lumos. After beating his test dummies in a hoverboard race, Ratchet and Clank are hired to appear in an advertisement for the hoverboards. Ratchet then asks if this gives them access to an employee discount, to which Lumos informs him that it only takes effect after two years of service. This is followed up in Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, which came out two years after the first game, where a 10% discount is offered if the game detects save data from the first game on a memory card.
