Within the game files are several unused models for different characters, most notably including an early, unused character design for Goro and models of Sonya. Other unused models include alternate skins for Jax, and default skins for Shang Tsung and Raiden.

Sonya Blade was supposed to be a playable character alongside Jax, and can be seen in early screenshots of the game. However, following the departure of series co-creator John Tobias, Midway rushed the game to completion and she was omitted.
