At its announcement, The Suffering was originally planned to receive a Nintendo GameCube version. However, this port was scrapped due to the low sales of Midway games on the GameCube and them wanting to prioritize the Xbox and PlayStation 2. Advertisements for The Suffering were featured on the back of the manuals for all versions of the 2003 game Roadkill, including the GameCube version, which released two days after it was announced that The Suffering's GameCube port was cancelled.
