Early on in development, it was considered that when a character wore an alternative costume, it would change their power set. Game director Dan Vondrak used the example of Iron Man as War Machine having a shoulder-mounted cannon. Ultimately, this idea was cut as it was deemed a "logistical nightmare" that could potentially overcomplicate all the characters' power sets.
