A follow-up to Façade titled "The Party" was planned following the release of the original game. Centered around the player being invited to a dinner party, the gameplay would have been expanded to include ten characters, more environmental interaction, and mature narrative elements such as sex and violence. In an interview with the magazine Games for Windows, co-creator Andrew Stern revealed that this game was intended to be a commercial product (unlike Façade, which was a free download on the developers' website), and thus needed an investment to fund the team necessary to create the game's artificial intelligence. However, co-creator Michael Mateas revealed in 2013 that work on The Party was halted in favor of pursuing other projects.
