If the player loses the boss fight against Bane, one of the Game Over sequences that plays is Bane lifting Batman over his head and breaking his spine down on his knee. This is a reference to the 1993-1994 story arc "Knightfall"; the incident specifically took place in Batman (1940) issue #497.
