According to the game's illustrator Falcoon, Dante from the Devil May Cry series was intended to be a playable character during the early planning stages, but was eventually scrapped for unknown reasons.

English translation:
"This week, Capcom takes the lead. First up is Dante (DMC4). I recall that he was included in the character lineup during the early stages of SVC Chaos production. I have a vague memory of the pixel artist who drew Demitri working on his initial sprites."
