In Stars and Time creator Adrienne Bazir chose to use a black-and-white art style for the game due to it being faster to draw, a tactic adopted from her experience in quickly making comics and fanart to jump onto a particular social media or fandom trend. It was also selected in order to add constraints, which she felt made the work more interesting as there were many points where she had to find ways to make things visible and clearly contrast without using color.
