The game's files contain an unused placeholder title screen under the working title "Galerians 2 / Ash". It depicts Rion at age 16, like in the first game, instead of the adult Rion used in the final version.

The structures of the songs "STAGE A-1" in Galerians and "Buseki" in Galerians: Ash appear to be based on an unauthorized sample of a percussion loop from the song "Terrible Lie" by Nine Inch Nails.

A three-part OVA adaptation of Galerians called "Galerians: Rion" was released in Japan in 2002. The English dub was compiled into one film and premiered on MTV2 in 2004, sporting an alternate soundtrack featuring popular nu-metal artists of the time like Skinny Puppy and Slipknot. Footage from this film was later re-used for cutscenes in the game's sequel, Galerians: Ash.
