The blue character with the pith hat was inspired by Derek Yu's real-life friend and fellow game designer, Colin Northway.

A shotgun can be found under a grave with the name "Ash" inscribed on it. This is a reference to Ashley "Ash" Williams, the lead character of the Evil Dead series, in which Ash is well known for his use of a shotgun dubbed his "boomstick".
